KALA Experience
Web Design | 3D Design

A unique and immersive web experience for Sri Lankan rap icon M.I.A’s debut album Kala.

This project was my entry into the D&AD New Blood award competition. The brief prompted entrants to create a must-visit website experience for a classic XL Recordings album.

The site offers an immersive tour of some of the key moments that shaped this seminal album, stopping off at places across the world, from Liberia all the way to India.

The central element of this website is a scroll-based SVG path that ‘draws’ as the user navigates the page, tracing over and outlining shapes that highlight the key influences on the album.
